Embroidered Floral Sampler

This ebullient, colorful embroidery sampler shows a plethora of flower designs, central to Iraqi women’s stitchery (a major art form there). The sampler also demonstrates Fadhila’s own creative command in designing the entire textile field. The piece was purchased by L’Attitude Gallery and is now on display at University of Massachusetts-Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Fadhila also makes embroideries for greeting cards. Fadhila was a high school science teacher in Iraq before coming to the US.
