Central American Artisans

Young Weavers and Embroiderers

RAW collaborates with a few young people who came to the city from nations in Central America. They have been nurtured and well supported by local foster families and attend public schools. They were fleeing the threat of gang violence and persistent poverty and social disorder in their home countries. Ellen and Joan of RAW have provided the details for their short portraits here. These young artisans draw on long-time crafts traditions from their countries of origin.
